The Derelicts Of The Internet

The structure of my 2012 launch is coming together now and as the building continues I’m having to make decisions on exactly the material that I want to bank my future on and the direction that I wish to take for the next several years. I think I’m O.K. ? Up until the editors weigh-in of course.

I’m looking at the challenge of putting together my themes end of the business and I’m kinda struggling. The themes that I finally am able to offer are a motley crew for sure ……… plug-ins are not too far behind in that description.

Intensity’s In Ten Cities

When looking at advancing the art of WordPress at least as it pertains to themes and plug-ins, the work looks pretty intense …….. and now ….. well now I’m noting a trend with myself as well as others who want to control the look and feel of the software program itself.

I Don’t Think This Is What Homer Was Thinking About

One of the beautiful things about WordPress is its ease of use ………. it is also its Achilles heel. There is a ton of useless code out there; useless in that it is badly written and sure to cause plenty of problems, not only now, but into the future. Code written by “shade-tree mechanics coders” are no bargain. Wading through the endless options of the coolest themes and plug-ins in the world is true torture when you finally come to realize that what you are looking at just won’t get it.

I Drowning In Derelicts

At first I thought I would place these poorly written nuances aside for a rainy-day to play with …….. kinda like a “test-bed” or “sandbox” ………. something to trash without getting into too much trouble. As time marched on, I was beginning to struggle for air …………….. and if I didn’t surface for air I was going to drown ……….. drown in the derelicts of the Internet. One day I found myself looking at a ton of derelict material in themes and plug-ins that looked like a Wookies nightmare while trying to put together R2-D2 ……….. “Yoda Of WordPress” indeed !!!

Sanford and Son Salvage

I find it hard to imagine exactly what has happened to all the people who were working on all of these abandoned themes and plug-ins. Most of course are junk, however, there is a portion that is just so cool it’s hard to figure what happened. There is just so much, I can’t walk away …….. no way.

Chief Derelict Developer

So most everything that you will see offered from me this coming year will already have been built or “designed” by someone else. I now find myself in the derelict theme and plug-in business ………. call it a flea market for WordPress themes and plug-ins. I’m the C.D.D of the company ……… that’s Chief Derelict Developer!

So what do you mean when you say “so most everything that you will see offered from me this coming year will already have been built or “designed” by someone else”? I know you’ve been working on themes and were anxious to dive into plug-ins too. Will those come later? Like the 2016 release of one of your other sites?

Ah, I know you’ve been busy and I’m sure you’re anxious for the release of Jeffrey Morgan. I sure know I am.

Happy Halloween Jeffrey. Have a great week!

      Hi Adrienne,
I’ve been away from my desk most of the day. I’m in the process of putting togeather the Super Bowl, World Series of Internet Marketing for a group of us to be annouced for the fall of 2012. I’m looking to pull togeather about a dozen of us to speak over four days. Here is the venue I have picked out.

Still a lot of planning to do though. I spent the day looking it over and trying to get a fix on wheather I can pull this off or not. I hope you’re up for a speaking engagement. I’m going to start crunching the numbers the first of the year. We’ll see.

As for the themes and things, the best way that I can describe them to you is they are like a home buyers fixer-upper. I take a totally useless theme that has been abandoned and develop it for the next generation of WordPress users.

I just don’t have time right now to design from scratch my own themes. My work load from those that want me to build Websites and Blogs for them is just too much.

If at all possible I would love to dodge the “working for a living” end of things and try to master the product launches. However, I have to be practacal about paying the bills. I can get several thousand dollars for a build; selling just the theme will net me about a $1000.00 if I sell it on the open market. I don’t have the infrastructure to provide support for those that would just like to purchase a theme for $90.00. I can’t do it!

Plug-ins if they are aimed at and marketed to the Internet Marketing group will be much better money. You can get $10,000 for a well thought out Plug-in if you sell the project out right.

As of the first of the year my focus will be on launching “Blogging Extreme version 1.0″. It will sell for $95.00. I’m sure that will take up most of the first part of next year. This holds the most promise. However, with the economy the way that it is, I’m banking on a collection of projects to see me through. You’ll understand better when you see

Now, what I’m really interested to see is what you can put togeather for four hours of instruction for this conference I’m planning for next year ???

      See ya soon!

      • Adrienne says:

First off, thanks for clarifying that for me Jeffrey. I knew you were building themes and stuff so I was confused about what you had said. Now I have a much better understanding of what you mean.

Wow, that conference sounds like a lot of work. I’m honored that you would consider me for that line up but I have a huge confession to make. I have a fear of speaking in front of people. I do really well standing around in a crowd or meeting people at a party. No problem at all but getting up on a stage, not happening. Sorry! :-( Just can’t see myself doing that. Just like you won’t put your photo up on your avatar for your own reasons. Sad, I know! Guess we both need a lot more work.

        Thanks Jeffrey!

        • Hey Adrienne,

I’m scared of presenting to a room of people just like you are. But I know I’m going to do it sooner than later. But I’m going to start off with a group of my mastermind clients who I’ve already built rapport with on the phone and through email, etc.

Even though I’m friendly with these people, I’m still going to be afraid. But I know that once I take this small training wheels step, I’ll build up my courage for the next step.

If the thought of presenting to 100′s of people really freaks you out, yet you want all the prominence that can come to you from being part of a ninja line up, one thing you could propose to the organizer is the idea of doing a break out session and limiting it to a certain amount of people 25-30 (first come, first serve basis) and doing it on a topic you know like the back of your hand so you’ll feel like a god when talking about it. Also, make sure you’re directing the talk towards beginners and you’ll feel even more Godly because everything you say will be genius. Because you’ve limited the seats, the other part that works for you is that you’ll know that every single person in the room is VERY interested in what you have to say vs. wondering how many of the hundreds are ignoring you.

I know this is the path my scaredy cat butt is gonna take. Maybe there’s something here you can find to help you take baby steps toward becoming even more famous than you already are. :)

Thank you for recommending that Lewis.. Several of my friends have suggested I go to toast masters or something like that to get some experience but I’m even afraid to do that.

I did go to a networking meeting earlier this year and when they called on each of us to stand up and give a short presentation on who we were and what our business was I was shaking in my chair. But I kept telling myself that I can do this. I actually got through that without a quiver in my voice and afterwards several people commented that they didn’t even know I was nervous. I did NOT enjoy that at all Lewis. How silly is that!

I really do know that I can help a lot of people and I think that the way I explain things is easier for some to understand. I know this should be the direction I am going next, I just really have to talk myself out of being so darn afraid. I feel so ridiculous about this to be honest with you but I can’t help it. I’ve been like that since I was a kid. We would put on plays for our relatives and I couldn’t even get up in front of them. I would forget everything I was suppose to say. Nothing would come out.

Thank you for your advice. I’m really going to have to work on that. I just appreciate your input. It was very helpful.

  2. Sorry for ignorance but what is “Blogging Extreme version 1.0″ going to be? Is it a theme or extension or a plugin?

    • Jeffrey says:

Hi Rafael, thanks for stopping by today!

As Internet Marketing becomes more of a refined desipline the available information becomes a bit dated. So “Blogging Extreme Version 1.0″ will be the next generation product for the newbie that will compete directly with “Blogging To The Bank” and “Atomic Blogging”.

This will be the only product for the foreseeable feature that I will launch as even the way that products are produced and delivered to the marketing is changing. However, I had already committed to the project so I’ll see it through.

Blogging Extreme Version 1.0 will be a product that is more of a visual experience with modules while the above mentioned products are more PDF E-Book lilke. When I started the product, I was really looking to accomplish two goals, to provide state of the art information that is simple to understand for the Newbie and to provide me a reference for my own work.

While I rather doubt that I will ever be able to match the financial power of either of the other products. It will be an flagship anchor for my continued presence and brand building within the Blogging Niche.

    Hey Jeffrey,

I’m happy your 2012 launch is coming together. They say what’s one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. It’s great that you’re utilizing these abandoned themes and plug-ins, I’m sure you’ll do great in the derelict theme and plug-in business. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

  5. I’m constantly amazed at the amount of people I encounter who seem to invest a big chunk of their time and money attending seminars, joining coaching programs and investing in very expensive products only to do nothing with them. I recently saw a testimonial from a lady who had attended one of these events, saying the information from the program was going to turn her business into a million dollar company.

  6. The key to implementing this knowledge is all in the planning.
When working out when you will take action on each idea, be realistic with timeframes.

I find that the majority of people do not follow through because they underestimate the amount of time it takes to get things done and end up being overwhelmed.

They then put all their intentions into the “too hard, can’t be bothered, I’m too busy” category and move on to another ‘bright shiny object’ for further motivation and newfound knowledge.
Unfortunately, the cycle continues and they become educated derelicts.
