I’m going to pick-up where I left off last week so that you are sure how to start off your Blog. Let’s say you are not sure what all your plug-ins for you Blog do. You need to make a list of your plug-ins that you have installed for your Blog and write them down in the form of a post. Now go down the list and write an important line or two about each plug-in. Not only will you have that information to refer back to when you need it, but you will have a great post that others can benefit from.
As you write your post you will have to get comfortable with the length of post. I find that I do just fine with writing about 300 words. As I write these lessons, I find for the first time that I am feeling a little cramped, but am sticking to it. You will know when you have enough, just remember not too much. I rarely read anyone’s Blog post that is over 2000 words. Remember this; that you will be doing this every day, so only write what you can comfortably do everyday. You might start off with 300 words a day and work up from there. You might feel that in a month or two that you type well, and have no problem with putting out 500 words. Watch your quality. Don’t write “filler” just to make your post 500 words.
Sometimes you will reach a rhythm where you are able to write 3000 words in a day in separate posts. You now have 6 days worth of post. Now you can take a couple of days off from writing and work on other areas of your Blog.
Remember to set your publishing settings on your post to the day and the time that you want your post to appear in your Blog. Don’t forget that if you have something to say right away. Just post and let it go, don’t try to schedule stale news. I usually find myself publishing a special piece once a week, it happens no more than that.
