Coming Changes To Bloggers Market

Bloggers Market Website

As this week comes to a close and the year is down to 8 weeks, I thought I would take this time and this post to reflect on progress for the past year and changes for the next.

Everyday my traffic becomes a little stronger, but I would be amiss if I said it is either strong or satisfactory. So, to this end; starting at the first of the year, I’ll be changing course for the homepage and I’ll be focusing a little bit more on the marketing side of things. I’ll also being doing most of my daily posts on the homepage.

As I have driven traffic to my site, it has; by a three to one ratio landed on the homepage, despite my best efforts to see that most of it went to “Jeffrey’s Corner”. I have ideas for a theme change, but that will come next year, probably towards the end of the year that will allow me to provide affiliate links and a couple of different categories on the homepage.

I also have some other things that need my attention that I have neglected for my Blog. I have 5 other websites and a major software program I’m working on that are collecting dust.

I have no idea what the future will bring or course, it has been an interesting year to say the least. I have seen many Blogs come and go. The loss of James Richmond, Jean Sarauer, and Miles O’Brien to name just a few.

I’ll be here next year that much I know. In what form, I don’t know. Whatever shape, way, or form it is, come see me and leave your comments, I’m sure to need the support.

Six Apart Is A VideoEgg

Picture Of Eggs In Basket

Over the past six weeks I’ve seen a lot come and go as I have had more time to read than work due to the dreaded “Europa Foot“. I squirreled material away what I thought would be relevant to the new Blogger once I was back at work. At the top of the stack was the sale of Six Apart to VideoEgg.

Six Apart; for those who are new to Blogging, is the parent company of the Movable Type, TypePad, and Vox blogging platforms. The union or sale was originally announced on September 21, 2010. I now have the edge on reporting what things look like now that the sale is completed. The whole ball of wax has been pulled together into one, under the name of “SayMedia.com“. Matt Sanchez has been slated as CEO with Troy Young being elected as President.

I never did do any type of post for VideoEgg, but you can find plenty on the others in the Bloggers Market.com archives. It seems that Movable Type and TypePad are the sought after properties with Vox being shelved, at least for the mean time. The main focus of the new company will be those bloggers who want to build media businesses, rather than regular people who write a blog for fun.

Thank goodness for WordPress! I’m not the only one to think along those lines either. Byrne Reese, who used to be with Movable Type until he left Six Apart last year, has been working on a new open source blogging platform called Melody.

It’s really hard to gauge a direction for the future here, but it seems from all the research that I’ve done that the merger is focused more on developing an ad network than supporting Blogging or Bloggers. As they say, time will tell.

Europa Elbow

Tennis Elbow

Man, ……… what a week! I have finally worn-out. I have “Europa Elbow”, kinda like “Tennis Elbow”, call it “Carpel Tunnel Syndrome” for Bloggers. The pain is in my right elbow with the right arm also doing double duty with the mouse. I haven’t missed a post since the first of the year, but at least I made it five months. I am still feeling poorly, but hope to be up to speed by the weekend.

I’ll be catching up on my “featured lessons” in the next few days and as far as “Jeffrey’s Corner”, I have no idea, I’m stilling pretty sore to be thinking about that right now. And as far as “The Sunday Morning Post”, well, ……….. I’ll see you next week ………… maybe.

I love this Blogging thing, just not right now, …………… ouch!!!
