The Map Of The Past The Way Of The Future

Brandon Connell Banner

How’s that for a post title. I thought I would break with tradition …. (timeout) …. ( time for keyword insertion ) “Learn How To Make Money Blogging” ….. and provide my market ( apologizes to my readers ) and give them exactly what they want.

For the past two years I thought that given my market, if I were to supply them with the materials needed to “Learn How To Make Money Blogging” that I would be insured of an enlightened future. Wrong!!!

I thought that if I aimed at a number of keywords that I would become well-known ……… and profitable. Wrong! Very Wrong!!!

I thought that if I were to give them a first hand look at my experiences and communicated those experiences as close to reality as possible, I would be some-what popular. Wrong!

Here’s the bottom line to this post. I hate Google for what they can’t or won’t do. I need to be able to write on a variety of issues that make up a Bloggers lifestyle without having to stuff the keyword phase “Learn How To Make Money Blogging” into every post that I write. When I go back over the myriad of keywords that I have tried to rank for, I can’t even find my own-self under my own domain name. When I look under “Learn How To Make Money Blogging” there I am …… number 97 (EDITORS NOTE: I now rank 46 in the SERP’s as of 9-11-2011) in the SERP’s, but I’ve never really tried to rank for “Learn How To Make Money Blogging”.

It takes a lot to become a profitable Blogger. First, I have to teach you how to Blog ( the techie stuff ) and as far as the teaching you how to make money Blogging, there are a number of ways to do that. I can certainly give you some ideas, but as far as providing you with a system to earn big dollars Blogging …. bunk! By the time you learn my earning system ( which has never proved very popular anyway ) things will have changed to such a degree that you would have to start the process over again once learned.

Everyone ( make no mistake about it, myself included ) is looking for that magic bullet. There’s the Auto-Blog thing. That seems to be pretty popular. I have about a dozen myself and not one earns a dime ( even though each one is monetized at least 5 different ways ). By the time you put together the $1.00 dollar a day Auto Blog system ( 1x365x200=$73,000.00 ), you’ll be dead in a year.

The only sure-fire way to make big money Blogging is to follow the map of the past, which will always be the way of the future, promoted with promises by the world’s greatest lairs.

The Villainous Affiliate Code

Bad Coding Habits

I’ve been working on validating my xhtml code for my Blogs for the past several days and I’ll admit that I leave out an “ALT” tag here and forget to close “</a>” there, but by and large I’m really pretty clean ……… except for my “YouTube” code which I can’t validate no matter how hard I try.

One thing that has constantly provided me with a challenge is “The Villainous Affiliate Code”. Just because you sign-up for the latest affiliate product launch and you get all that cool artwork, just keep in mind that doesn’t necessarily come with a guarantee of clean code. On the contrary. I have found that the so-called pro-bloggers with the top products have the worst code.

I was watching a video from Google the other day about the validation question. And it seemed that the general consensus is that while everyone would like to validate, It’s not set in stone that you should or even have to. There really is no SEO penalty, so long as you follow protocol and don’t attempt to code while drunk ( “CUI” ). And as far as browser compatibility; I say as long as I can get it to call in I.E and Firefox, I’m good to go. You iphoners and ipaders’ will have to fend for yourselves.

My issue here is not that the affiliates can’t get the code right. Rather, it’s got me thinking about their products in general. If they can’t get the affiliate links right, what makes you think that 200 pages of affiliate product or E-Book are going to be any better.

Like I said, I myself have a few errors in my code and I continually drive my editors crazy with my writing, ( I just can’t get “your” and “you’re” straight no matter how hard I try ) that said, I do eventually get it right by going over and over the material …….. and code, again and again.

This is just one more red flag that you should be aware of when you are considering an affiliate offer from someone who you are not really all that close with……… that and the failure to pay commissions on sales is a sure clue that things are not as they should be in the “Blogosphere”.

Both United Parcel Service And Your RSS Feed Have Deadlines

UPS Truck

I remember when growing up that U.P.S. had a fierce deadline. Wherever I worked when I was growing up it always seemed like I was in charge of the U.P.S. shipments. I was always fighting the deadline. They don’t wait. That’s not what they do. They come, they drop off, they pick-up, they go. What a job to have; driver for U.P.S., I guess that is why they get paid so well.

Your RSS Feed has a similar deadline. It won’t wait either. Just like UPS, Google ain’t going to wait.

With the advent of Caffeine, which I wrote about earlier this year, my posts are getting indexed by time of post. Here’s a heads-up: Without an RSS time stamp, you’re at the mercy of the bots. When you set your RSS Feed to publish at say ……… 7.00 P.M. Google comes looking for it at that time. How else does Google know when to publish “within the last 10 minutes”. Trust me; Google ain’t waiting around the back door of your Blog just for your daily post.

When you set your RSS timer, Google crawls that part of your site or site-map and logs it in. Then every day at 7.00 P.M. Google comes around for the goodies.

Google will not explain this to you; I have just learned this by “EXPERIENCE“. It’s the name of the game in Blogging and Internet Marketing.
