Can You Write Like A Blogger? – Lesson 28

OK, you can spell Blogger……but can you write like one? As I mentioned last week, the Internet is becoming more and more competitive. Only the best and the brightest will survive. As one week blends into another, and two weeks become fifty-two, focus can really take a hit.

Most Bloggers would like to prosper at their chosen

Google Caffeine Delivers

I thought I would do a follow-up on Google Caffeine, the new search engine project from Google.  As you know, if you read and follow this Blog, I’m just not real big on Google.  I like some of their services such as Goolge Earth and Goolge Analytics. I’m not a fan of Adsense, Adwords, or G-Mail.  And their search engine after 15 months of posts; 6 months posting every single day is just dreadful. With 14 Blogs now, I don’t rank for anything other than the Blogs name.  Amazing ……..Simply Amazing. Enter the smoke and mirrors of SEO. Please!!!!! ……..

I see about 3000 uniques a month and I have to knock on every door of every visitor to get them to visit my site.  After I look at traffic for the month, I’m lucky if I see 12% from search engines. Well, Google ain’t the only game in town.  There are literally dozens if not hundreds of search engines out there.  Again after looking at several different traffic softwares,  I see 99.8947 percent of the 12% search engine traffic coming from Google and the rest ……… well let’s just say it makes for an interesting pie graph.

Now comes Google Caffeine!  Just great. Oh joy. Here we go with more hype about my 12% of nothing. I do better with Twitter.

Google Caffeine has been active about a week.  That’s plenty of time for the search engine to do its thing. So I thought I would take a look at one of my latest post to see how the new “Caffeine” was working. Well, well! Yes, I finally have my first linking in Google. Position 1&2 on page 1 no less.  Now we’re talking.  I know that I won’t hold on to that position for long, but that’s not the point.  I should hold down the first spot if I’m working at providing quality content every single day at least for a time.  And if that’s means I rank at 400 after day 3 because of all the other Bloggers, I’m fine with that.  But I’m over the foolishness of having breaking news and not even finding a link in the first 9,000,000 pages or “results”.

Below you will find my first post of the week about the new “Google Caffeine”, again on page one.  Thank you very much Google!!!  Better late than never.  ;)

The Perfect Way To Monetize A Blog

Happy Salesman

I’ve noticed a growing trend that I’m not so sure is a good one. I was looking up this really hot topic that I was sure to improve my skills. I was pretty jazzed that I had found this certain video. I have been looking to start a video section here at Bloggers Market. I already have one, but it is the weakest area of my Blog and it should be the strongest. So I was looking for videos to add to my site and this one was just what I was looking for ……. or so I thought.

The video was actually pretty good, not exactly what I was looking for though. However, when I arrived at the video site, I had my anticipation dampened considerably. The video had an ad by Google attached to it ……….. 3 minutes and 18 seconds worth! Please!!!…………..

While I’m not a big fan of ads by Google or Adsense as it’s known, it’s Adwords that has me in a twist. I’m not going to go there ………… Google ads lay to the side of anyone’s website and if you see an ad that is of interest, you can click on it. Google ads for video, you have to watch. You have no choice, if you want to view the video underneath.

I did watch the video ad, which was really pretty good. It was a Google ad that described how the video program was tailor-made for websites. Really the same old salesman Schick. But 3 minutes and 18 seconds worth!

I’m not so sure if this is the perfect way to monetize one’s Blog or not. I know that I avoid clicking on any story from a news agency or any other video that has ads attached to it. For 50 minutes of television you only have to watch about 10 minutes of advertisements. With the above video in question it was like 50% ad; 50% Blogging Ideas.

I’m just not so sure! Would you consider using video ads on top or your videos?
