For the new Blogger, it is imperative to become part of the Blogging community as soon as is practically possible. Nothing drives traffic like real-time social interaction. It is the ultimate SEO!
When I started out I had a great deal of experience at the computer and Internet thing, but I totally missed the social connection. I still have yet to engage one of the three sources that I mention here.
If you are serious about building and maintaining a blog for profit, I can’t emphasize enough the importance of engaging the Blogosphere with your social presence.
The first thing that you will have to do it to get a Twitter account and start interacting with others. Don’t just let it lay there, by finding a lot of people to follow and wondering why they don’t follow you back, because you never send out any Tweets.
The second thing you need to do is get a Facebook account. I had a hard time at first trying to distinguish between Facebook and MySpace. But after time I could see all of those in my social community of Bloggers had a Facebook account. So I went with Facebook. I think that MySpace can be a benefit to the Blogger; it’s just that Facebook seems to be king.
The Third thing you need to do is get a LinkedIn account. I love the slogan; “Relationships Matter.“ It’s really the most “Professional” of the three, so I have put off signing-up because I want to take my time at working with the site.
I’m going to be discussing the social links or sites that are important to the new Blogger in the future. So stay tune to Jeffrey’s Corner for continued posts. Now, if you will excuse me, I’m going to follow my own advice in this post and head on over to LinkedIn to sign-up for an account.
