My first thoughts are WOW! Derek’s post was so inspiring. As I refelct on what I read I am definitely sad about the outcome and I am also tearing up by the way he so eloquently shared his last thoughts about his life and the love he had for his family.

Based on the comments it looks like Derek touched many peoples lives in such a positive manner. That is what I hope I see when I look back on my life during my final days.

    Thanks for sharing!

      Hi Rick,
Reading your comments, brought this quote from Daniel J. Levinson to mind.

“In the end he has only the self and the crucial internal figures it has brought into being. He must come finally to terms with the self – knowing it and loving it reasonably well, and being ready to give it up.”

Wow, wow and wow Jeffrey! What an awesome idea he had to actually share with all of us, even those who never knew him, his personal thoughts toward the end of his life. My heart breaks for any family who has to go through the loss of a loved one and especially when they are taken at such a young age. And that nasty word, cancer, having ravished his body and wouldn’t leave until it had won. God how I hate that disease.

But thank you for pointing us all to his post. Awe inspiring for sure.

      Hi Adrienne,
I noticed that the baseball great Harmon Killebrew is dealing with cancer. We go around and around on this hamster wheel and I would image that we are all pretty tired of it.

I have the cure you know. I think that you know it as well. Here it is for those who find themselves in the dark. Cancer is caused by containments in our air, soil, and water. Cleaning up these areas of our planet will cure Cancer. Until that time there will never be a cure for this continuous poisoning.

There was an extensive study done not too long ago. Here is the link: “Cancer ‘is purely man-made’ say scientists after finding almost no trace of disease in Egyptian mummies”.

Further more, scientists now say a healthy diet, regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight can prevent about a third of the most common cancers.

      Hi Terje,
I wonder how long the family will leave the Blog in place. I never got the chance to interact with Derek, however I do have his writings. I count myself lucky indeed.
