Laying A Blogging Foundation – Lesson 2
Before one can start banging out posts on the keyboard, some thought needs to be given to what it will take to blog or pursue online commerce successfully. Amazingly it does not take as much as one might think, but if you are really going to do this and you are looking at the long run, some preparation is in order.
To start: Get yourself a comfortable office chair that rolls. Grab some cardboard “bankers boxes”. The bankers boxes do the same thing that a filing cabinet does and they are easily movable. Don’t go all out for the basic office supplies. I’ve done just fine with two pens that I keep on my desk and I use the paper from the printer if I need to write something down. Rubber bands; paper clips; a shredder would help, along with a big plastic industrial garbage can and your good to go.
Remember to keep things as simple as possible. This will pay off for you down the road. When it comes to computer equipment, keep it nice and cheap. I have a couple of dual cores with 24 inch monitors and an inexpensive basic printer. All toll I spent about $1000.00 for all of it brand new.
Last, but certainly not least, you will have to have a payment gateway. Paypal is about the best way to go here. A simple personal account will do when you are starting out, not a business one.
If you are serious about making your living online …….. grab a mitt and get in the game, but don’t try to be so tight with your resources that you and your business suffer for it. That’s what they call “stupid is as stupid does”. In April of 2009 a Subway sandwich shop franchise cost $258,300.00 and is said to be one of the most economical ways to enter into a small business. You should be able to make a go of your online commitment for about $2000.00.
