What follows is a re-print from year one, which was 2010.
Well I guess the title to the post says it all. I’m really doing this for posterity, so that I can look back from my throne one day and contemplate the beginnings of a media empire. I think Citizen William Randolph Hearst Kane would be proud!
I don’t really have anything profound to add here and it has certainly been a hard road to the first year, but here I am, and here I’ll stay. I’d like to tout all of the progress I have seen and of all the grand plans for the future, but the fact is that I am still trying to gain my balance.
I can, for those who are interested in development of Blogs shed a little light on the big things that went right and wrong. The best thing that happened over the past year is the tech factor. I was well prepared for this aspect of Blogging and it has paid dividends for me. The worst thing that has happened over the past year is that I totally missed the power of social media and I am still in the dark with the proper marketing techniques that should be in place at this point of the Blogs growth.
While my Alexa ranking is 685,721 out of 206,000,000 and I have 1002 Twitter Followers as of 8:30 A.M, I have yet to build a solid following as far as Blogs go. However, for those who have come by to visit me, to live and to learn from me, thank you!
Fast forward to year two, which is 2011.
I thought I would give a re-print from last year to kinda see how far I have come in a year. This year I am expecting loads of salutations. Last year I got none! I originally went back in time to retrieve the way cool image that you see at the top of this post. When I got there I read the post and thought, wow, what a difference a year makes.
My Alex ranking finally reached 209,000 and I have just over 2500 Twitter Followers. And while I can’t say that I have a solid following, I am miles away from where I was ….. time marches on.
I’m not sure if I will see a third year here at Bloggers Market or not! I’m toying with the idea of a sale. If I were making a million a year at this and had the staff to support it, I’m not sure I would want to do it. I’m not much for managing other folks. And unfortunately as I have pushed the envelope of Blogging I have evolved to a point where I can’t handle what I have here. Also, I now have a better idea of where I want to go with my Blogging.
Last year I wrote about the fact that I would no longer post here on a daily basis and that I would be moving to Blogging Extreme.com as my new base and only posting here on the weekends. Well, I don’t think I have written a post there yet as I have had plenty to occupy my time. I’ve got new material; loads of drafts, I just haven’t the time to post it.
As I start my third year, I’m focused on the tech part of things. I’ll have to admit that I like getting the $500.00 checks for my tech skills, instead of the $7.00 checks that come with my Blogging. I’m looking to forge the tech side of my business which brings me the most money …….. at least for now. How does this work? I’m not sure really, but it should look something like this.
- 1. CottonTail Computers – Will provide boutique parts for Linux machines.
- 2. CottonTail Hosting – Provides a high level of hosting services.
- 3. Linux Squared – For my personal Linux OS Distro.
- 4. Down The Rabbitt Hole – Provides WordPress Themes and Plug-ins along with Linux goodies.
- 5. Blue Ridge Digital Downloads – for a library of material for Internet Marketers.
- 6. Jeffrey Morgan.me – Personal Blog.
- 7. Blogging Extreme – I may hang on to this one. I’m not sure.
Man that’s enough ……. makes me tired just looking at it! That should keep me busy for many birthday’s to come. I actually have an 8th roaming around out there. That involves Web Designs, which is where I make most my income Online. The remaining 18 Blogs and 25 or so domain names are up in the air. That’s a lot of candles on the cake I’m afraid.
