Bloggers Market Breaks Through … Stat Static

Google Analytics

Awstats, Webalizer, Stat-Counter, E-Blog-Counter, BlogPatrol, StatPress, this press; that press ………. man! How many different softwares does it take to count visits and visitors? SEO is a pain! So is counting the visits! Please, is there any way in the world to simplify all the smoke and mirrors?

It makes for great content on everyone’s blog, gives them something to chatter about and make a little racket without getting to the bottom of things. I’ve seen this debate everywhere on all sorts of Blogs, from the exotic to the economic.

Unfortunately it’s one of those things that no one really takes the time to sort through, basically because it takes too much time to do it. In the end I guess I’ve got about 24 hours into researching the thing myself. Ya know, you think, why does it take so long to reach an answer? That answer is pretty simple; information overload! I googled how to read stats for your website and got 107,000,000 returns. See what I mean?

I decided to take matters into my own hands and hard code everything and see what I got. I started by building a simple php script to read the unique visits that actually came to my site to read the content and not just to leave their forum spam, and then count the repeat visits from those uniques and compared them to the 18,485,089,001 website and blog counters to see who could count! The results? ………………..

You’re going to love this. The winner is ………. sorry kids …………. Google Analytics.

Everyone came up short, no one really came close, except for Google. Nuff said!
