Now that you have your WordPress software and WordPress premium template downloaded to a separate folder on your hard drive, it is now time for you to install WordPress first and your theme second.
I am going to give you a list of all the tools and how to place them where you need them, however I am not going to be able to provide you with install instructions for WordPress, this would take more than a couple of posts for the New Blogger.
You can find these instructions here at Bloggers Market with my new E-Book, I strongly advise you to avoid the WordPress Website, as the instructions followed there left me with my first “famous 7 hour installation” of WordPress instead of the advertised “Famous 5-Minute Installation”. Usually it will take about 15 minutes.
You will have to have an FTP (File Transfer protocol) to move your copy of WordPress that you downloaded to your desktop or computer hard drive to your server file system. The one that I recommend is Filezilla, you can download it here by clicking this link.
Some server hosts will allow you to upload files via their FTP (which can usually be found on your tool bar under your file manager), but usually will set limits as to the size of files, usually around 25MB (NOTE: As of September 1, 2011 hosting limits for uploads have increased dramatically, you can easily find 500MB limits now ). If you upload the zip version of WordPress (the same one you download to your computer) the size should be about 2.2 MB, so you should be OK. This is by far the easier way to install WordPress.
Once you have the zip package upload to the “public_html” section of your home directory, you can right-click the package and you will see the word “Extract”. Just click on extract and it will install WordPress to your “public_html” section of your home directory.
