Blogging For Bullet Heads … Six Months Later!

More Bullet Heads

Oh well …… I was just having some fun.  After the laughter died down, a serious conversation started between myself and the editor of Bloggers Market;  what would a bullet format for New Bloggers look like, once someone has been Blogging for six months.  So after some thought, here goes:

Bullets For Bloggers!

  • If you are not using WordPress as a stand alone install on your own host or your own server …… start! If you are going to compete with the pros work like one.
  • If you don’t really understand that much HTML or other Web Languages, start learning. You don’t need to “crash course” it here. A couple of points a day should do it.
  • Strictly manage your media images. If you avoid the WordPress Media Library, and hard code your images, you will have much more control over them. ( Editors Note: As Of September 2011 WordPress Media Library functions have greatly improved. I’m still not a fan of the Library producing multiple images though. )
  • Spend time learning and updating your plug-ins. Be on the look out for new ones that do the same thing that your present plug-ins do, but better.
  • Keep this in mind. If you want to change something with your template, always look for a plug-in first, before resorting to hard coding. Chances are good that there is a plug-in.
  • Use Screen Shots of your code before you make any changes. Make Screen Shots of any changes you have made to your code and keep the two together in a file folder.
  • Check any changes to your code or template across at least two browser platforms, Explorer and Firefox. What works in one, may not work in another.
  • Check to make sure your links provided in your content posts are working properly. If they should change in the future, you will need to add the new codes.
  • Check for broken links with advertisers on your homepage. If you have any affiliates sales or ads on your site, you will be amazed how often they break or change.
  • Post content relevant to your niche, everyday! Use Special categories that you update say, …… on Saturdays or Sundays to spread your content around.

There you have it, My Top 10 List for my Blogging Bullet Heads! Class Dismissed! ;)

Blogging For Bullet Heads

Bullet Heads

I have once again come upon information on how to compile one’s post for general consumption when managing one’s Blog. No names mentioned!!! I have seen more than my share of posts by the top Bloggers on how to post your content for maximum effect. In a nutshell: bullets, bullets, and more bullets. Whatever! ………….

As a Blog for New Bloggers, I can’t possibly hold your hand with bullets and hope you get it!  My example:

  • Find a place to set-up your operations.
  • Purchase a good computer and printer.
  • Think of a subject.
  • Install WordPress.
  • Install Theme.
  • Install Plug-ins.
  • Lay-Out Theme.
  • Write Content.
  • Design E-Products.
  • Open a Paypal Account.
  • Go Visit and Be Social.
  • Visit Paypal and Transfer Money.
  • Go Pay Bills and Build A Future.

O.K., there you have it…… Blogging for Bullet Heads! I hope you don’t have any questions.

Bullets have their place, even for the New Blogger. But to teach one how to install and manage a Blog from the beginning can’t be done by bullets. So as the saying goes, just find someone to install it and get it going for you. That won’t really work for you either, unless you have a tech support team in place for everyday problems.

As a New Blogger, you’re going to have to face the fact that you will have to take some time to learn what you are doing if you are going to be competitive at the top levels. That way, when the tech issues arise, you will be able to handle them with efficiency.

After you have been at it for about six months, …….. check back here for your ammunition!

Imagine That

I thought I would pick-up where I left off on Friday, with the discussion of Social Media for New Bloggers. I have to give credit where credit is due and I need to pass on thanks to Sean Malarkey for this insight into Social Media and the potential for the Blogger. I’ve never given it much thought really, I just know that my traffic spikes when I pass along something unique. Lesson learned; staying on point is good for business, but a well placed “break” in the action can do wonders for your traffic!

Sean recommends that you stay with educational and inspirational content during office hours and provide the lighter side of Social Media such as this video in the evening hours. By providing your content to your Social Media sites that you use, you are sure to pick up plenty of Re-Tweets which will inevitably drive traffic to your Blog. Now enjoy the video!
